KOLPA. CHOOSE YOUR OWN STORY.
Day 1: S E M I Č
To start the day off right, we will be welcomed by a couple from the Semiška ohcet Folklore Group, who will offer us the “belokranjska pogača” cake and honey liqueur. After that we will visit Bajer (natural fish pond), the technical museum, and have a snack. Our trip will continue with the tasting of top-quality local wines, and with a walk through the old town centre of Semič, where we will visit the St. Stephen parish church. The journey will end with a visit to the source of the Krupa river, which is the largest karst source in Bela krajina. On our way back to Semič we will follow a circular karst learning path called From Lebica to Krupa. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: M E T L I K A
We arrive in Metlika, where we are immediately offered “belokranjska pogača” and the “Metliška črnina” wine. After that we will visit the new and modernized bathroom showroom of the company Kolpa d. d., the old town centre, theBelakrajinaMuseumcollection, the Dr. Branko Božič Slovenian FireFighters’ Museum, and the Kambič Gallery. We will also visit the wine cellar and taste excellent local wines. After that you will have some spare time do to shopping in Beti, Komet and Status stores. In Rosalnice we will visit three pilgrim gothic churches called Tri fare. After that we will have late lunch and then drive to Božakovo, from where we will enter the Zdenc-Vidovec Learning Path. On our way back we will pass Drašiči, where we will stop at the Soseska zidanica vineyard cottage, and Vinomer, where we will enjoy the sight of “steljniki”, i.e. areas overgrown with fern. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 3: Č R N O M E L J
In the morning we will explore the Črnomelj town core and stop on the “Street of Culture”. After that we will have a quick bite, and then head towards theKolpaRegionalPark, in the village Adlešiči, where we will be shown flax processing and dyeing of Easter eggs called “pisanice”. Our journey will take us further along Kolpa, to Šokčev dvor, and the Bela krajina Beekeeper’s Learning Path. The taste for culture will be further satisfied in the birth place of Oton Župančič. Then we will visit two villages in theLahinjaRegionalPark. In Veliki Nerajec we will have a look at the information house and an arts and crafts studio. We will drive further to Pusti Gradec to see the mill and the Venetian Saw, theChurchofAll Saints, and archaeological findings. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 4: K O Č E V J E
We arrive in Kočevje and make a short stop at the Kočevje mining lake. After that we will visit theKočevjeRegionalMuseum, and take a walk through the city to see the parishchurchofSt. Bartholomew(Sv. Jernej) and some other historical points of interest. After snack we will drive towards Kočevski Rog, and stop at Matija Koboli, the only maker of kneading-trough inSlovenia. On our way towards the burial ground in Kočevski Rog we will have a look at the 15 stations of the “Cross of Slovenians”, the fir tree called “Kraljica Roga”, the remains of the “Roška žaga” sawmill, and step onto the edge of the virgin forest. On our way back we will visit the Želenjske jame caves, where we will be able to explore the 1,600 metres long tunnel in the company of cavers.

Day 5: K O S T E L
Enter the magic world of Kolpa with our guide and breathe in the intactness of nature. On the Kostel Castle listen to the stories of the past, in Stara šola TRIS (tourist and development information centre) experience Kostel and the healing country of Svet Kolpe in all its glory, and in “Galerija okusov” (gallery of flavours) indulge in local delicacies in a modern way. Take a walk to the parish church of the Assumption of Our Lady near Fara, and under the expert guidance embark on a meditative journey along Kolpa and give yourself something for the soul. Instead you can decide to explore Kolpa differently and spend two hours on water (rafting, kayaking, or canoeing). On Lukčeva domačija home, as you are being wrapped in stories of a local hawker, indulge in good food and excellent drink, and end the day in a pleasant company, playing various sports or social games. Day 6: O S I L N I C A
We will spend the day in thevalleyofPeter Klepec. We will make our first stop at theChurchofSt. Anneand then make our way towards the Čabranka source. We will have lunch in late afternoon and then visit Osilnica, in particular the Stane Jarm Gallery. Finally, we will let loose in the adrenaline park and then head home.
